In addition to their new Coolpix A APS-C compact camera, Nikon has some new glass to add to the Nikkor lineup. The new 80-400mm F/4.5-5.6 ED VR is actually an update to an older lens, bringing some new features to a niche favorite.
Big sensors crammed into little cameras has become the name of the game lately. Sony's insane RX1 full-frame compact is still the champ when it comes to putting a big chip in a little box, but now Nikon has packed a 16.2-megapixel DX-format (APS-C) sensor into a compact of their own.

In 1932, Nippon Kogaku K.K. registered the NIKKOR trademark, shortly shipping the Aero-Nikkor aerial photographic lenses in 1933. Since then, Nippon Kogaku K.K. has become Nikon, but the lenses still say Nikkor written across them.
We saw several new rugged compacts back at CES earlier this month, and the collection keeps growing now that CP+ is in full swing. Nikon has a pair of tough cameras, both updates to previous models.

At CP+ in Japan, Nikon has unveiled a stack of new cameras, including three new superzooms, and a pair of affordable traditional compact cameras. By far the most interesting of the set is the new Nikon Coolpix P520, and update from last year's well-regarded P510. The newest high-end long-zoom from Nikon will arrive with a $449.95 in February, and will feature 42x 24-1000mm equivalent f/3-5.9 lens.

The search for the right standard 50mm equivalent on a crop body has been going on since the dawn of APS-C cameras. Sigma's new 30mm F/1.4 updates the older version with a full-on revamp.
Nikon has been on a bit of a lens tear lately and they apparently have no intention of stopping. Now, they have a new super-telephoto lens and a budget-friendly wide angle zoom to add to the Nikkor line-up.
