After moving to Los Angeles from New York in 2006 to earn an MFA at UCLA, Matthew Brandt found himself most inspired to play around in the darkroom. “I’d had this New York repression of space, so I went a bit wild with the printing space,” the 30-year-old photographer explains.

Pro photographer Michael Brian depicts the bond between humans and their dog counterparts

If Michael Brian had a choice, he would spend all his time photographing dogs. “The thing about capturing animals is that they’re so in the moment, so there’s never any block in front of the camera,” the 51-year-old Los Angeles-based advertising photographer says. “But dogs in particular have a fascinating way of communicating with humans through body language.”

Quantrell Colbert captures the footwear of the stars

working on set as a unit photographer for films and television shows in Atlanta, GA, Quantrell Colbert constantly hunts for interesting backstage images. “Most of my work takes place when they’re not blocking [i.e., staging] scenes, so I have a lot of spare time,” the 39-year-old pro photographer explains. “Rather than waste time, I like to get creative.”
