Every month, we challenge our readers to get out into the world and make great pictures. Honestly, we know you'd be doing that anyway, but we appreciate your willingness to share your work with us. This month's collection of entries was huge, climbing over 2,000 photos. There was a decidedly international theme, with images coming in from all over the world, just just the USA. That's always awesome to see. 

Advertising photographer Carl Warner's "foodscapes" are astonishing constructions of edibles that are as much photograph as bizarre storybook pictures. With a background in illustration, advertising photography and landscape photography, Warner's managed to combine it all into an utterly remarkable career — crafting huge, vaguely surrealist landscapes out of foodstuffs.

In a paper set to be presented at the IEEE Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, taking place late June, researchers from MIT looked at what makes a photograph memorable. Not necessarily aesthetically pleasing or well composed, but one that sticks in your head. The answer? It all comes down to people. The images above are some of their most memorable, while the ones after the break are the pictures that quickly flee your mind.
