If you're looking for a DSLR in a color other than black, Pentax is one of the only games in town. Sure, you can get the Panasonic G2 in understated red or blue, but that wouldn't be nearly as exciting as picking up one of these new ultra-bright Pentax K-r bodies.

Pentax has long been known for making solid entry-level DSLRs. Its latest, the K-r ($710, street, with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens), shows a noticeable improvement over the popular K-x it replaces, and continues a newer Pentaxian trend: colorful DSLRs. It is available in red, white, and the traditional black. New Gear: Pentax K-r DSLR

Pentax offers a new DSLR that's a step above entry-level.

It may not come in quite as many swanky colors as the entry-level K-x (white, black, and red for now), but Pentax is hoping their new K-r DSLR will appeal to users trying to take another step up. At its heart is a 12.4 megapixel, APS-C CMOS sensor with dust removal and Shake Reduction (image stablization). They have jacked up the maximum ISO to 25600, which is a full stop more than the K-x could manage.
