And expanded version of 9/11: The Photographers' Stories, American Photo magazine's oral history of September 11, 2001 told by the photographers who documented it, is now available in a significantly expanded version on the iPad. 

The iPad has made its way into a large number of photographers kits. It's great for low-level editing, and perfect for quickly showing off your images to people outside of the studio. But can a simple app let it double as a softbox?Over the weekend we read about an app called Softbox Pro which Lifehacker noted was pretty much just a series of images that could be easily and freely replaced with digital files. There are other, similar apps available, but I was more curious how well they work. We've seen someone replace an entire studio light setup with iPads, but can a single iPad do any heavy lifting?

Earlier this year, Adobe released a trio of apps for the iPad: Eazel, Color Lava and Nav, all of which have just received feature updates and Eazel gained a rather nice price drop. While the updates aren't exactly mind-blowing, they do cement the fact that Adobe is throwing some weight behind the idea of expanding Photoshop onto the iOS platform. Plus, we'll never complain about better apps for less money.

Nik Software have made a name for themselves as makers of software plugins, but have now branched into the portable world of iOS, with a new iPad app called Snapseed. This photo editing app has all the basic editing controls you could want, but also adds a bevy of adjustable filters to give your images a decidedly lomo feel. With 11 built-in filters, there a vast array of tweaks and twiddles you can do to your images.
