You might be wondering why this 10mm f/5.6 Nikkor fisheye on eBay is commanding such a high price. Aside from its age, why in the world would an old fisheye go for $49,000, when a new one only fetches $775? But it turns out that the 10mm f/5.6 is anything but an ordinary lens.

It doesn't come as much of a surprise that the world's priciest lens comes with a red Leica dot logo on it. But when it comes to price, the Leica APO-Telyt-R 1:5.6/1600mm truly goes above and beyond. This one-off extreme telephoto was created for Sheikh Saud Bin Mohammed Al-Thani of Qatar for 16 million Hong Kong dollars, just over $2 million in the US.

The cover to the album Abbey Road is arguably one of the Beatles' most famous, to the extent where you can watch people reenact the shot (and try not to get run over) by webcam. Now, one of the unused shots for the album cover is up for auction, and is expected to hit £7000 – £9000.

In 2010, an eBay auction popped up for a 6mm f/2.8 Nikon lens with a $34,000 asking price — and that same lens is now up for purchase in the UK at five times that price. This enormous lens is being sold through Grays of Westminster, and has a sticker price of £100000 (approx $160,000) — and we have no idea what caused the price jump in the intervening two years.
