Day 1 Podcast

Although the first day of Photokina 2006 was mainly reserved for registration and orientating your way around the maze of more than 1,60 exhibitor booths, Popular Photography & Imaging editor John Owens was already busy tracking down the coolest cameras and accessories.

"For consumers, this show is really a bellwether of where the imaging industry is going," he says. "What we're seeing here at this show which we didn't see in 2004 is that the consumer electronics companies have a huge presence."

In this podcast, Owens discusses the new Samsung GX10 DSLR, three new Carl Zeiss lenses for the Sony Alpha, a spiffy new Canon hard drive/picture viewer that's sadly only available in Europe, and much more.
