SeaLife has introduced a new 8-megapixel camera that comes with an underwater housing. The DC800 is rated for use down to 200 feet below the surface. Its housing provides access to the power, shutter release, zoom, menu and navigation, mode, OK, and delete controls, and its optical-glass lens port has a snap-on ring for attaching accessory lenses. The camera's 2.7-inch LCD is viewable through an optical-grade polycarbonate window, and the housing body is equipped with rubberized grips. The camera itself features an f/2.7-5.4, 28mm-112mm (35mm equivalent) 4x zoom lens.
The DC800 includes a range of settings specifically for underwater shooting in its set of automatic features. There's a Sea mode and two modes for use with SeaLife's compatible Digital Pro Flash accessory, External Flash Auto and External Flash Manual. White balance options include Oceans Blue, Oceans Green, and Lakes/Rivers. There are 16 additional automatic shooting modes designed for use on land, as well as face detection and automatic exposure bracketing. The camera's shutter speed range runs from 1/10 to 1/5000 second in Land mode and 1/60 to 1/5000 second in Sea mode, and its light sensitivity tops out at ISO 1600. For timed shots, there's a "Spy" timelapse shooting mode that can be set to capture a continuous stream of images at intervals from 5 seconds to 5 minutes.
The DC800 is available for a $549.95 list price. For further information, visit SeaLife's Web site.
