Mamiya has announced two new Sekor D series lenses for its 645AFD II and newly announced 645AFD III medium-format cameras. The optics are optimized for use with digital backs, and each lens contains a 16-bit CPU to allow firmware upgrades, fine lens characteristic correction, and fast communication between the lens and camera body.
The Mamiya Sekor AF 150mm f2.8 IF D enters Mamiya's lineup as its fastest telephoto lens. It incorporates low-dispersion elements to minimize chromatic aberration and improve color and contrast, and has an internal focusing system. The lens provides a 26-degree angle of view (equivalent to a 93mm lens on a 35mm camera), a minimum focus distance of 3.3 feet, and an f/22 minimum aperture. It takes 72mm filters.
The Mamiya Sekor Zoom AF 45-90mm F4.5 D Aspherical incorporates both aspherical and low-dispersion elements to achieve edge-to-edge sharpness, minimize chromatic aberration, and improve color and contrast. The lens provides a 72- to 46-degree angle of view (equivalent to a 28-56mm lens on a 35mm camera), a minimum focus distance of 19 inches, and an f/32 minimum aperture. It takes 77mm filters.
The 150mm lens will be available in May 2008. Pricing information and a release date for the zoom lens have not yet been announced.
