onOne Announces FocalPoint

onOne Software has announced a new selective-focus and vignetting plug-in for Adobe Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. FocalPoint 1.0 lets photographers blur and vignette areas of an image, in order to replicate the effects of specialty filters and selective-focus and tilt-shift lenses.

To use FocalPoint, the photographer selects an area of sharp focus with the program's FocusBug tool, then adjusts the amount and type of blur applied around that area, and lightens or darkens the surrounding portions of the image for a vignetting effect if desired. The adjustable FocusBug can be set to a round or planar aperture shape, and types of blur that can be applied include both a standard defocused look and motion blur. Combinations of aperture, blur, and vignetting effects can be saved as presets and applied to other images singly or in batches.

FocalPoint will be available in Mac and Windows versions in April 2008 for $159.95 from onOne's Web site.
