Epson has introduced a new flatbed scanner. The Perfection V200 Photo offers 4800x9600 dpi optical resolution and can interpolate images up to 12800x12800 dpi. It captures 48-bit color scans and 16-bit black-and-white images.
The 5.7-pound scanner's lid opens 180 degrees to allow scanning of objects as thick as 25mm, and the scanning bed offers a maximum read area of 8.5x11.7 inches. An included film holder allows scanning up to six 35mm frames in a film strip or four mounted 35mm slides.
The V200 offers software tools for enhancing scanned images, including Advanced Digital Dust & Scratch Correction, Backlight Correction, and Easy Photo Fix, which combines color restoration, dust removal, and grain reduction. The scanners controls include dedicated one-touch Scan, Copy, E-mail, and PDF buttons. The V200 connects to a Mac or PC via USB 2.0.
The Perfection V200 comes with ArcSoft PhotoImpression and ABBYY Fine Reader Sprint Plus software, and will be available in July 2007 for $100.
