BitShelter, the company that owns the PhotoShelter online photo archive and marketplace, has announced that it will offer one terabyte of redundant storage for $1,000 per year or 500 gigabytes for $600 per year to all Standard and Professional PhotoShelter account subscribers.
PhotoShelter will store uploaded files in mirrored datacenters that use RAID arrays and are located on both the east and west coasts of the United States. This redundant storage system was created to ensure that photos will be preserved in the case of an event causing a storage failure in a particular location. The company also provides a drive upload service to photographers who are not able to upload their files via an Internet connection but can ship a hard drive to PhotoShelter.
