Olympus has added two notably compact new models to its line of Zuiko Digital lenses. The 7.5-ounce Zuiko Digital ED 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 lens offers a focal-length range with the same angle of view as a 28mm-84mm lens on a 35mm film camera, and provides a minimum-focus distance of 9.84 inches throughout its range. The 8.8-ounce Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm f/4.0-5.6 has a focal-length range with the same angle of view as an 80-300mm lens on a 35mm film camera. Both lenses incorporate Four Thirds mounts and ED elements that reduce chromatic aberration.
The new Zuiko Digital lenses will be available in May 2007. They will be bundled in a two-lens kit for $999 with Olympus's new E-510 digital SLR and $899 with the new E-410. Single-lens kits that include the 14-42mm lens with the E-510 and E-410 will be available for $899 and $799, respectively.
