| The Kodak EasyShare 5300. |
Kodak has announced that it is entering the home inkjet marketplace with a series of All-in-One devices offering printing, scanning and copying technologies, with a major selling feature being a claimed 10 cents per photo user cost.
The entry-level Kodak EasyShare 5100 has a suggested retail price of $149.00 and prints photos, color or black and white documents, along with scanning and copying functions.
The mid-level Kodak EasyShare 5300 (MSRP: $199.00) adds memory card slots and a 3-inch LCD screen for non-tethered operations.
The premium member of this lineup, the Kodak EasyShare 5500 (MSRP: $299.00), adds a fax machine to the mix.
The ink configuration is a two cartridge set-up: a $9.99 black cartridge, along with a 4-color cartridge that ships for $14.99. One of the ink “colors” is actually a clear-coat, and is not actually a color in the truest sense of the word, so these systems utilize a traditional CMYK plus clear color system.
These AiO units will begin arriving at Best Buy in March 2007. Best Buy is the only retailer to carry this line, although they will also be available direct from Kodak.com.
