Epson and ExpressDigital Team Up

Two new packages include wide-format printers and ExpressDigital software.

January 17, 2007

Epson and ExpressDigital Team Up

Epson has packaged two of its wide-format inkjet printers in a new Epson Portrait Edition series. The Stylus Pro 3800 and 4800 will be bundled with ExpressDigital Darkroom Core Edition software for retail prices of $1,495 and $2,195, respectively.

The Portrait Edition packages are geared toward wedding, portrait, and event photographers who need to manage and print a high volume of photographs. ExpressDigital's workflow software includes tools for creating print packages and Web storefronts, cataloging and archiving images, and integrating photos into marketing materials and graphic layouts. The software can automatically route print jobs to as many as four Epson printers at a time, and supports Epson's Stylus Pro 7800 and 9800 models for larger-format output.

The new Portrait Edition packages look like a good deal, considering that ExpressDigital Darkroom Core Edition sells for $495 and the Stylus Pro 3800 and 4800 run about $1300 and $1800, respectively. Portrait Edition series printers will be available by February 2007.
