With election day over, we know you must be tired of polls and stats but here's one last poll that might be of interest to you. More than 73 percent of women and almost 50 percent of men feel uneasy in front of a camera! So says the surprising results of a survey conducted recently by Fujifilm U.S.A., Inc., which commissioned the study to learn why so many folks are apprehensive when asked to smile for a picture.
According to survey respondents, weight and hair style concerns are the main reasons for their "picture phobia." In fact, 44% surveyed preferred to do laundry, 34% would rather pay bills (yikes) and 18% would rather visit the dentist than pose for a picture.
In an effort to put people at ease, Fujifilm released their Face Detection Technology over the summer. Cameras with Face Detection Technology aboard, like the current FinePix S6000fd and FinePix F31fd (pictured and available this December) can identify up to 10 human faces in a scene and set the correct focus and exposure for those faces, automatically.
And, speaking of "Best Face Forward", it's also the theme of Fujifilm’s latest website. Located at www.fujifilmusa.com/BestFaceForward, the site serves as an information hub for looking great in photos. In addition, at www.fujifilmusa.com/BestFaceForward visitors can challenge their powers of observation by completing a fun Face Detective game for a chance to win one of eight digital camera prize packages containing the new FinePix S6000fd camera, a 256MB xD-Picture Card and a 4-pack of Energizer e² Lithium AA batteries or the Grand Prize: a Weekend Trip for Two to New York City and a portrait sitting with professional photographer, James Ferrara.
