Lexar Celebrates a Decade of Digital Imaging Innovation

Lexar is celebrating its 10th anniversary of developing and delivering market-leading flash memory cards for the digital photography, consumer electronics, industrial and communications markets. Originally established in 1996, and recently acquired by Micron Technology, Inc., Lexar has developed revolutionary new technologies and marketed innovative products that have directly contributed to dramatic and sustained growth in the professional and consumer digital imaging markets. Lexar’s 10th anniversary will be one of many topics highlighted in the company’s booth at the upcoming Photokina 2006.

"Since our earliest days we have consistently focused on providing our customers with the most reliable, high-performance digital imaging products possible," said Leslie Adams, Vice President, Marketing, Lexar. "We remain committed to this goal as our business evolves and we embrace new and exciting opportunities and capitalize on the growing need for high-capacity removable and portable flash storage in other products such as mobile phones, PDAs and handheld gaming devices."

Over the years, Lexar has introduced a lengthy list of breakthrough products including high-speed and high-capacity memory cards and USB flash drives, and workflow-improving flash card readers. For example, Lexar was the first flash memory company to “speed-rate” flash cards and USB flash drives. In addition, in early 2005, Lexar became the first flash memory company to launch and manage a digital photography website. The company’s proven expertise in developing and marketing professional and consumer products, and its well-established presence in the retail sector, were contributing factors in Micron’s decision to acquire the company.

During the past decade Lexar has marketed flash cards and accessories that have improved the digital imaging experience of consumer and professional photographers alike. This pioneering approach toward the flash memory categories is enhanced by Micron’s recent acquisition of the company, which will strengthen Lexar’s ability to develop and market impactful, uniquely designed and workflow-improving new products for years to come.

Immediately following the acquisition, Lexar began leveraging the innovative leadership and operational excellence of its new parent company. Lexar is now well positioned to continue its longstanding commitment to delivering leading technologies and innovative solutions to consumers, as well as providing strong partnerships, support, and programs to its distribution and retail partners.
