September 23, 2005

bn_glen_wexlerAWARD-WINNING PHOTOGRAPHER GLEN WEXLER CELEBRATES 25 YEARS WITH “25:25” EXHIBITION AND LIMITED EDITION BOOK

“25:25” Exhibition and book include many memorable and award-winning album covers and advertising images

LOS ANGELES-- Photographer Glen Wexler commemorates the past 25 years of his exceptional career with a gallery exhibit and retrospective book, entitled “25:25,” at the Farmani Gallery in Los Angeles beginning November 18, 2005 with reception for photographer from 7-10pm. The exhibit will run through December 1, 2005.

Glen Wexler photographed his first album cover for Quincy Jones Productions while still a student at Art Center College of Design. He quickly gained a reputation for his imaginative and elaborate photo illustrations for Michael Jackson, KISS, Van Halen, Rush, Black Sabbath, Yes, ZZ Top and many others.

Wexler’s highly conceptual and visually stunning images have garnered worldwide recognition. His signature style has earned an international client base that reaches from Milan, Italy to Tokyo, Japan. Clients include Acura, Adobe, GM, Intel, Jeep, Maxell, Microsoft, Pfizer, Sony, Toyota, Warner Bros. Pictures and hundreds of others. “Wexler has assembled some of the most memorable advertising campaigns and imagery for musicians in the past 20 years,” writes Photo District News. Wexler also creates feature photo illustrations for TIME Magazine.

A fine art photographer by nature, Wexler has built his career by finding commercial commissions that afford him the opportunity to push the medium with elaborate productions. “For Wexler, it’s all part of making the image come to life. True to his original goal, he’s created his own form of fine art,” observes Communication Arts. Embracing emerging digital technologies Wexler began utilizing these new tools as part of the creative process over a decade before the practice became mainstream. Linda Marso, President and Executive Producer of New York City based PICS, quips, “Glen did things 20 years ago that others are just figuring out now.”

Tim Wride, formerly the Curator of Photography for the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and current founder of The No Strings Foundation, wrote the introduction to Wexler’s limited edition book “25:25.” Wride says: “Wexler’s pictorial constancy as a risk taker and his deftness as a problem solver are the characteristics that distinguish his work and make his images both meaningful and memorable.”
