Subject: Bill Hannigan Leaving Corbis
I am sad to announce that Bill Hannigan has decided to leave Corbis in early May. He has brought a passion for photography that is a natural fit for Corbis and his contributions over the last six years have been a key part of our success.
Bill joined Corbis as the first global Director of Collection Management. In this role he finalized and led the establishment of the Film Preservation Facility in Pennsylvania. From there Bill went on to become the Director of Photography for Editorial Stock, Historical and Fine Art. Late in 2002 Corbis Outline was added to his responsibilities. Facing increased competition and declining revenues Outline rebounded under Bill's leadership, and we developed our world-leading position in portraiture. As VP of Corbis Outline, Bill continued to expand that leadership position and the collection globally. He has been a strong ambassador for Outline and Corbis' great collections on a global basis. Most recently Bill spearheaded a new integrated strategy for our three-pronged entertainment offering -- one that we will continue to implement going forward.
In another development, Elodie Maillet will also be leaving in May to pursue another job opportunity. I know you all will join me in wishing them well.
Corbis is committed to building the number one entertainment offering in the world. We have a highly talented entertainment group making great strides everyday, developing an integrated portraiture, archival and events/"red carpet" offering that is unique in its breadth on a global basis. While it is sad to see such valuable leaders go, this is an opportunity to hire a new, world-class team to lead the next phase of Entertainment development at Corbis. I am actively recruiting for both a Vice President for Entertainment to run the group, and a Director of Photography, Entertainment to aggressively develop a competitive red carpet offering.
In the meantime, I have appointed an Interim Operating Team to ensure that we continue to maintain the current momentum around our Entertainment offering. I am serving as executive overseer of this group, and Carol Peters will be dedicated to the project management of this effort. This group will consist of Lisa Diamond, Sherrie Berger, Pamela Hassell, Beate Chelette and Kacy Cole. Lisa and Sherrie will serve as coordinators of Outline, and Pamela Hassell will serve as coordinator of Entertainment current events production. As VP Product Management, Kacy Cole and her team will work with Robson Grieve and the marketing team to assume all product marketing activities that had been previously been handled directly by the Entertainment team. Our first meeting will occur next week in Los Angeles, and the group will meet weekly (and report to me) until the new management of the division is in place.
The integration of Beateworks is going smoothly and Carol Peters will continue as the project manager. The integration will not be impacted by these developments.
If you have any questions about this transition, please do not hesitate to contact me.
