What happens to winners of our Annual Photo Contest ? Lots of good things -- you get your photograph and name published in Popular Photography & Imaging and on popphoto.com, you win exciting and valuable prizes, and you can even jump start your photographic career by getting the recognition you deserve.
Take last year's Grand Prize winner Maureen Burkhart, who entered a photo she took when her family visited the Vatican Visitors' Center in Italy. Remarkably, her riveting image of a spiral staircase, entered in the Architecture category, was one of only two frames she was able to shoot at the time. However, the winning picture came out exactly as she had envisioned it, conveying a remarkable sense of dynamism and motion in a still photograph of a static subject.
Winning the contest marked a turning point for Maureen, whose involvement in photography has intensified and deepened as a result. She has not only received accolades for her images, but also has been recognized by her local newspaper which ran a story on her experience of entering and winning the 14th Annual Popular Photography Photo Contest.
Now is your chance to enter and become a winner too. All winning images will be featured in the January 2008 issue of Popular Photography & Imaging and on popphoto.com. The Grand Prize winner will receive a Panasonic Plasma HDTV, HD Camcorder, DVD Recorder, and a Lumix Digital Camera. The prize package will be installed by Firedog, Circuit City's highly trained professionals. Category winners will receive a new Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 camera.
You can enter your images in any one of six categories -- Action/Sports, Architecture, Candid/Humor, People, Nature, and Travel. All submissions can be uploaded online at www.popphotocontest.com, where you can view and scroll through the most recent entries. Enter as many times as you like! But hurry -- the deadline for entries is midnight (EDT), September 14th 2007.
