Still Life with Berkemeyer and Wan-Li Bowl

This is a still life inspired by the paintings of Willem Kalf (1619-1693). Kalf was the creator of the Pronkstilleven or Ostentatious Still Life. His paintings displayed rare and expensive objects owned by the wealthy in XVII century Holland. A distinctive feature was his dark almost black backgrounds. This is one of a series of images inspired by the still life paintings of the Dutch Masters Golden Age.
