Intimacy Infringed

As I was shooting on a busy weekend afternoon, there were great swarms of children passing by the jaguar exhibit with their parents. Nayla, the jaguar, was dozing when a few children inevitably tapped on the glass and woke her up. This photo was taken as she closed her eyes again after being startled awake. Taken in 2010, the style was inspired by Nick Brandt's incredible wildlife photography in Africa.
