The Founder

The billets fed into the extruder in Waterbury are cast at the foundry in Ansonia at the other end of Brass Valley. Mike and the crew not only operate the last active furnace there, they maintain it and when needed, rebuild it. As Mike went on break, I tried to catch a casual shot of him with the foundry behind, but when he saw the camera he stopped and posed proudly. After he stepped away I took two more shots for HDR.
