Portrait of a child

I bought a fast prime lens because I love the depth of field they can create and enjoy shooting using available light. I had been taking pictures with my lens stopped down quite a bit, but decided I'd open it up to see how sharp the focus area would stay with the lens near wide open. I took this image and was blown away by the result. It's like the background seemed to melt into a beautiful blur.

Equipment Used:
Hand held, natural lighting. The lens and camera did all the work. I used CS 5 to set the black level. I also used the "healing brush tool to take two small blemishes out by her hairline.
