The Golden Ratio
By Nick Benson
While climbing the 248-step iron spiral staircase of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in North Carolina, I happened to look down. Not only did I spot "The Golden Ratio" that artists, architects, and mathematicians use so often for proportioning, but I also saw a grid. It couldn't have been a better real life example of the divine proportion which dates back to the times of ancient Greece.
