"Pickeling" (the prep for signature verification)
By Kendra Helgesen
When you cast your vote there is a preforated tab on the back that covers your signature. When your ballot is received by the team of election judges, the first thing they do with it is remove the tab, which is called "Pickeling". The ballots then get "Faced" to ensure that the signatures of voters are properly scanned for verification. So in essence, you have the "Pickle-Face" team, who are responsible for making sure your vote counts!
