Sunset at 35,000 feet
By Peter Lenehan
Flying through the stratosphere in a jetliner will be the closest that most of us will get to being in space. Such as it was when I caught a glimpse of this abstract reflection of the sun's light as it set behind me while flying over the US Great Plains -- an image that no one on the ground would be able to see. The colors were fleeting, as we rapidly cruised into total darkness. This is the reason I always request a window seat and am grateful when the plastic panes are clean!
