Reflecting on Escher
By Adam Oliver
M.C. Escher, infamous Dutch artist, was able to visually and literally turn you upside down with his illusionary work. The scene here in the Saugus River reminded me of his wood cut "Puddles", which makes the tree reflection, though upside down, one of the focal points of his composition. As a high school art teacher with an affinity for both photography and printmaking, this reflection resonated.
