Western Film Noir
By Jock Goodman
Normally, shooting in this indoor arena (covered and open on 2 sides) is like shooting in a coal mine. But on this Saturday for a very short time, the setting sun glanced into the arena creating extreme contrast with beams of light among the dark shadows. As the rider went from deep shadow to bright sun, I spun my shutter dial (in matrix metering mode) from 1/640 to 1/3200 sec trying to catch them with the best exposure. This one of Lindsey Harris reminds me of the old Film Noir style.
