January Photo Challenge: Falling Precipitation

Rain Drop Splash

By Gregory Opt

By Gregory Opt

It had just finished raining and the sun was out, backlighting the drops as they splashed on the concrete off my roof. I decided this would be a good time to try some high-speed photography and captured this at 1/8000 sec. I adjusted the highlights, blurred the foreground and background, and sharpened the splash to enhance the depth. It looks like the water's deep but it was only about 1/8 inch of water!
