Change of Perspective
By Kelly Morrell
I've always avoided self-portraiture– It’s vulnerable and revealing. It wasn't until I came across Vivian Maier’s self-portraits that I believed I could even attempt it. Inspired by her work I went searching throughout downtown Jacksonville for reflections. As much as I had hoped that I could, I quickly realized that I couldn't hide behind a reflection. This project forced me to look at myself, and I painstakingly found that my vulnerability can be beautiful.
