Pools of Mokolea with Crepuscular Rays
By Stephanie Sawyer
This lava shelf in the Kilauea area is known as the Pools of Mokolea. There is a large crater or jacuzzi size hole in the lava that the ocean can surge through and get sucked back in. This can be a dangerous place in high surf, but this sunrise, the surf was calmer allowing me to shot the crepuscular rays casting golden light unto the foreground.
