To shake up your normal cute pet pictures, look for less common views. Try assuming an extremely low shooting position, pointing upwards at the pet, or conversely adopt a high angle and look down.
Experimenting in an unusual environment with a pet will catch attention too. Why not sit a pet mouse on a serving place in the middle of a table set for dinner?
