On the Border with Jon Lowenstein

As I mentioned the other day, I see a lot of interesting work from photographers who pass through my office. I’ll occasionally be sharing some of it here. The image here  is from Jon Lowenstein, a Chicago-based photographer who has a really nice portfolio of images of the city on his website. (I lived in Chicago for many years, and the opening picture on his site will give you a wonderful idea of  the weather there.) Since 2000, Lowenstein has been working  on a documentary project about undocumented Latinos that has taken him all over the US and Mexico. Lowenstein has teamed with the Blue Earth Alliance to create the multi-faceted media project, which he calls "Shadow Lives, USA." He hopes that his images will serve as a historical document and help illuminate the national debate on immigration.
