New Photoshop Contest: Medical Anomalies

I have a very bad feeling about this new contest. I'm afraid my doctor might want to enter! Sponsored by Worth100.com, it's a competition for those who really like messing around with Photoshop. The idea is to take medical images like x-rays, CAT scans, sonograms, etc., and manipulate them to show strange conditions. It's like The Island of Dr. Moreau for the high-tech set. I've got to figure that American Photo readers can ace this contest. The bigger question is whether we think this kind of manipulation work will eventually be considered an art form independent of photography?
