Touching a Nerve

Some might say that taking photos of the downtrodden inhabitans of Vidor, Texas, a town known for its importance in the history of the Ku Klux Klan, you are bound to be opening a can of worms.

But Dave Anderson, whose book Rough Beauty does just that, insisted last night that he doesn't "take photos to get a rise out of people." Last night at a small discussion at the new Clamp Art Gallery, where prints from the book will be on display starting November 16, the TK-based photographer talked about some of the backlash his book has prompted.
