If you walk through the doors of the International Center of Photography's gallery space in midtown Manhattan this week you'll be assaulted by visions of land scarred by industry, made toxic for its animal and human inhabitants. You'll see animals caught in the snare of an auto-tripped camera, stunned by the bright flash of the camera's light, or in another series of photos harvested for the mythical power of their internal organs.

No, it's not a dystopian nightmare, it's "Ecotopia," the second and most fully realized of the ICP's triennial series, which opened today with a press preview and officially to the public Sept. 14.
