Sharp and high contrast even wide open, this is a pro lens at all focal lengths. I love being able to disengage the auto focus with just a push on the focus ring. My D200 is fitted with a Katz Eye focusing screen with split image and micro prism just like the good old manual focus SLR's. Although I prefer to hand focus whenever possible, this lens does just fine on auto.
