Mentor | Tony L. Corbell
Tony has had an interesting career. He has photographed three U.S. presidents, 185 World Leaders, 65 Nigerian Heads of State, about 550 brides and grooms, a couple of Astronauts and lots of famous and not so famous faces in the past twenty-eight years. Along the way Tony has spoken at over 350 seminars and workshops nationally and internationally. He is the recipient of the highest honor from the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International with their Lifetime Achievement Award and achieved the status of Photographic Craftsman from the Professional Photographers of America. In 2005, Tony received the Photographer of the Year Award from the International Photographic Council of the United Nations at a ceremony in New York at the U.N. and the PPA National Award from the Professional Photographers of California. Tony has always been active as a student and teacher in photographic education and his Basic Studio Lighting book from publisher AmPhoto has been popular worldwide and is the basis for numerous photographic college lighting courses across the U.S. Tony has written articles in every major photographic magazine in the U.S., Japan and China and is very active in all local, regional and national photographic associations. He is currently one of a select few Approved Photographic Instructors from the Professional Photographers of America and in 2005 was San Diego, California’s commercial photographer of the year. Today Tony serves as Senior Manager for Product Education and Planning for Nik Software Inc. Based in San Diego, California and Hamburg, Germany Nik Software develops products and technology for photographers worldwide. Their popular Nik Color Efex Pro 2.0, Nik Sharpener Pro 2.0 and Dfine 1.0 have been recently joined by the latest in image editing tools, U PointÔ technology, seen in the new Capture NX software by Nikon.
