 In the August issue of Pop Photo, we quoted a street price of $161 for Sekonic's new L-308S FlashMate. But right now, the street price seems to be closer to $179.
At that price, the L-308S is still a heck of a meter for the money. This new meter lets you choose between full- 1/2-, and 1/3-stop shutter-speed increments, and boasts a full range of f-stops also selectable in full, 1/2, and 1/3 stops. It measures incident or reflected light for both flash and ambient sources, and covers from EV 0 to EV 19.9 in ambient mode, and f/1.4-90 in flash mode. Plus, it's powered by just one AA battery.
