super slow motion popcorn

At this point on the internet, it almost seems like cheating to post things happening in super slow-motion. Even mundane things can look rather spectacular when slowed down to 15,000 and even 30,000 fps. It’s kind of like how taking super macro images of everyday objects makes them a lot more interesting than you’d ever expect them to be.

Today’s super slow-motion phenomenon is a single kernel of popcorn, exploding in a mesmerizing burst up to 1000 times slower than we typically see it.

The videos are very well shot and don’t have a lot of nonsense surrounding them. They’re presented in 4K with great lighting and a nice clean backdrop. It’s a great format for other channels to observe.

If you want to shoot something like this on your own, you can rent a very expensive Phantom slow-motion camera. If that’s outside your budget, you can use the less-pronounced 1,000 fps effects offered by Sony’s RX10 Mark II or even the RX100 Mark V. Just be sure to bring a lot of light.
