The 50mm f/1.4 Summilux-M, a standard high-speed normal lens for Leica M-series cameras, is ideal for shooting pictures in low light without flash. It is often used by photojournalists who appreciate its excellent performance at wide apertures. Our tests revealed relatively high barrel distortion, which has little practical consequence for its prime applications (general photography and street shooting), and unsurpassed performance at the widest apertures make it one of the best optics of its kind for available-light shooting.
