Cosina has announced the new Voigtländer Color Skopar SL II 28mm f/2.8 lens, a compact pancake for both Nikon and Canon cameras. The lens will give you a 74.8° field of view on full frame, which will cut back to 53° on an APS-C sensor. While the maximum aperture of f/2.8 may not seem taht impressive (especially given that it also lacks image stabilization and autofocus), the Voigtländer makes up for it in size. The Canon version of this lens is 70mm/2.75″ in diameter, 27mm/1.07″ long; and weighs 230g/8.11oz. The Nikon edition is smaller still, just 63.3mm/2.5″, 34.5mm/0.96″, and 180g/6.35oz respectively. That likely sounds pretty appealing to some video shooters.

The Canon version will cost €549 and the Nikon €529, but we have yet to hear prices for the USA.
