We spent the weekend field testing all 22.3 megapixels of this new pro-level DSLR
The Canon 5D Mark III is finally here in the Popular Photography office, and assistant editor Dan Bracaglia had the chance to spend the weekend shooting sample images around Manhattan with it.
It should be noted that this entire sample images gallery was shot with a Zeiss 15mm f/2.8 lens affixed to the camera. The majority of the shots were captured in aperture priority mode. The cameras new 63-zone metering system was impressive to say the least. All of the photos, with few exceptions, seemed properly exposed right out of camera. Looking at some of the cityscape photos, you will notice a very impressive tonal range, with solid detail in both the shadows and highlights.
Everything that follows is completely unprocessed. The images were, however, converted from RAW files to jpgs using Photomechanic. Click the link on each image to see a full-res version.
