Sample Image Gallery: Canon EOS-1D X
c09.08ruvhoward001.jpg

We decided to field-test Canon's $6800 flagship EOS-1D X in the most appropriate venue we could think of: a college-level football game. Right off the bat, the camera's 12fps burst rate makes it one of the fastest full-frame DSLR's out there (comparatively, the Nikon D4 maxes out at 9fps). With the threat of rain looming, I set out on the field with an EF 70-200 f/2.8 L IS II USM lens affixed to the camera.

All of the images that follow are unprocessed unless otherwise noted. Conversions from RAW to JPG and AdobeRGB to SRGB were made in Adobe Lightroom 4 (as were any edits).

An exposure increase of +1 was made in Adobe Lightroom 4.

This image was under-exposed due to rapidly changing cloud cover. You can see how bringing up the exposure in post affects the image quality.

Tech Specs: ISO 400, 1/2500 sec, f/5.6
Focal Length: 165mm
