High-Speed-Normals.jpg

High-Speed Normals

Seven new high-speed wide-to-normal primes, most of them for APS-C-sensor cameras, have recently entered makers’ catalogs, with almost all the major players having produced one or more. Their f/1.8 to f/2.8 maximum apertures suit them especially well to street-scene grab-shot subjects such as the bicyclist. Even better? Almost all deliver 1:1 lifesize subject magnification.
