Photokina 2012

 Lately, cameras with big sensors have been grabbing a good portion of the attention, but there are still some true compacts making their first appearances at Photokina, including Canon's new PowerShot G15, S110, and SX50 HS. When it comes to style, you'd be hard-pressed to find a more fashion-forward series of camera than the Fujifilm X, and that certainly continues to be the case with the new XF1. 

Recently, Tamron was the first lensmaker out of the gate to slug Vibration Compensation (their name for image stabilization) into a 24-70mm F/2.8 standard zoom lens. The results were pretty impressive, but now they've moved on to another classic zoom range in the 70-200mm F/2.8 DI VC USD.Expected to ship by the end of 2012, the new 70-200mm lens is expected to be more compact than existing F/2.8 versions from various companies. it will be 7.7 inches long in total, weigh roughly 52-ounces (3.25 pounds) and use a 77 millimeter filter.The elements will include one piece of Extra Low Dispersion and four pieces of Extra Low Dispersion glass. It will also use Tamron's multi-layer coatings to reduce effects like ghosting and distortion.

Sony shooters have long been asking for a full-frame version of their translucent mirror cameras and now it's here in the form of the A99. The new flagship Alpha camera has a 24.3-megapixel full-frame sensor, which sounds very similar to the one found in the new RX1 super-advanced-compact. It also has the newest version of the BIONZ processing engine and a matching 100-25,600 native ISO range.
