Most of the glass we've been writing about here at Photokina 2012 has been big and fast, but the Olympus bodycap lens is the exact opposite and that's what makes it cool.

Technical editor Philip Ryan spent some time last week photographing a day's worth of matches at the US Open using Olympus's new Pen E-PL3 and a handful of Micro Four Thirds lenses. He shot Federer vs Sela, Monfils vs Ferrero, Fish vs Jaziri, Stephens vs Peer, and also managed to catch Serena Williams as she signed tennis balls for fans after beating Michaelle Krajicek in only 49 minutes.

In addition to announcing a trio of new PEN micro four-thirds cameras today, Olympus also unleashed two prime lenses, a flash, and a grip designed specially for the PEN E-P3.

Las Vegas- Meet the Olympus E-PL2, the fourth generation of PEN camera in Olympus’ line of micro four-thirds bodies. While no groundbreaking updates have been made to the E-PL1’s replacement, that is not necessarily a bad thing. However the changes that were made are small but welcomed, like a much higher-res LCD, a larger grip, a silent-focus lens (that comes bundled with the camera) and a bump in ISO range.
