With a 35mm equivalent focal length of 22.5-810mm, Nikon's new super-zoom has plenty of reach.
Nikon’s “beyond super-telephoto” compact, the Coolpix P500, features a 36x zoom lens (22.5-810 35mm equivlent)—behind that massive zoom is a 12.1MP backside illuminated CMOS sensor, a EXPEED C2 dual image processor and a 3” vari-angle LCD. With such a massive zoom range, integrated image stabilization is a must, so Nikon equipped the P500 with image-sensor shift Vibration Reduction and Electronic Vibration Reduction. That said, you'll still do well to bring a tripod if you plan on getting blur-free shots all the way out at 810mm.
