Glitch art is a currently popular art trend, which intentionally introduces errors into digital files. That means breaking your images on purpose, corrupting and altering them to create bizarre abstractions and surreal versions of the original photograph.

Thanks to the likes of Siri and Google Now, smartphone and tablet users are becoming more and more able to control their devices using only their voice. But what about for  more complex tasks — like maybe tweaking a photo? University of Michigan School of Information Masters student Gierad Laput worked on an app to do just that as part of an internship at Adobe, and helped create PixelTone, a voice controlled imaging editing app.

Last year, a new application called JPEGmini was released, which promised to compress image files by up to 5x without any loss in picture quality. While something of a success as a Mac app, that same technology is now being used in a new iOS app called Beamr. Available free on the App Store, Beamr will save your data cap by sharing images low on size but high on detail.
